What We Offer
Pilates
The Pilates Method is a conditioning program focused on a whole body approach to exercise. It is a gentle yet effective form of resistance exercise designed to strengthen and stretch muscles, improve core strength and flexibility, gain range of motion in the joints, increase balance and stability as well as enhance postural alignment, circulation and vitality.
Joseph Pilates developed several principles that are integral to the mastery of his method. These principles are intended to help create symmetry by quieting the mind in order to focus completely on the body. By utilizing these principles of Concentration, Control, Centering, Flowing Movement, Precision, and Breath you are able to embrace a total workout for the body, mind and spirit.
“With body, mind and spirit functioning perfectly as a coordinated whole , what else could reasonably be expected other than an active, alert, disciplined person? Moreover, such a body freed from nervous tension and over fatigue, is the ideal shelter provided by nature for housing a well-balanced mind that is always fully capable of successfully meeting all the complex problems of modern living.”
Joseph Pilates
The Pilates Method reshapes the body, diminishes joint & back pain, and tones the deep abdominal muscles, referred to as the core. Pilates can be done standing, on the floor, and on equipment designed by Joseph Pilates. Pilates movement therapy can benefit everyone from star athletes to those recuperating from surgery, by either enhancing the quality of everyday life or by taking performance to the next level.
Gyrotonic Expansion System®
Discover The Art of Exercising and Beyond. The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® is a method of movement derived from Kundalini Yoga, dance, swimming and gymnastics. This complete system of movement originates from the spine and follows the natural energy lines in the body to build internal and external strength. The exercises are performed in undulating, spiral and circular movements that help to release stiffness and increases range of motion in the joints while strengthening musculature and ligament connections.
The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® incorporates flowing circular patterns, focused rhythmical breathing and proper body mechanics. This system will awaken the total nervous system, stimulate and massage internal organs and revitalize the client’s energy. This is a three-dimensional system of exercise which is a perfect complement to the Pilates Method.
Spring Training is also the only studio on the peninsula that has the complete repertoire of Gyrotonic Specialized Equipment, which includes the GYROTONER®, Jumping Stretching Board, Ladder, Leg Extension Unit, in addition to 2 Pulley Towers.
